The Coronation Durbar of 1911 culminated with a grand garden party, hosted at the Hayat Baksh Bagh in the Red Fort. Located on the north-eastern portion, the Hayat Baksh Bagh was the jewel of Shah Jahan’s palace gardens and the largest in the fort. The garden has dome-less towers, channels for water, marble pavilions, and a walled enclosure. Lord Hardinge, the Viceroy of India, along with the Archaeological Survey of India, restored the complex before the party. This photograph depicts the garden party, where the royal guests and native princes are seen in conversation, enjoying an easy atmosphere.
