The museums programme is a key step towards dag’s vision of democratising access to indian art. In 2023 DAG acquired the heritage home of National Treasure artist Jamini Roy in Kolkata, West Bengal to transform it into a landmark single-artist house museum by undertaking an ambitious restoration and museum development project. In addition, through inclusive education, arts engagement, exhibitions, and institutional collaborations, the Museums Programme critically engages with art in relation to history and society. The programme explores how the process of art making is a powerful tool for shaping and understanding the world around us. The programme is built around a core collection that is freely accessible online, bringing historic artworks from DAG’s vast collection directly to you. |
