PHILANTHROPIC INITIATIVES

In the three decades of its existence, DAG has always been at the forefront of philanthropic activities, not just through fundraising but also by donating works of art from its collection, as it happened during the pandemic. In raising Rs 1 crore, for example, for a major national charity through a sale of its works, in reality it gave away twice as much since it did not realise any value for the acquisition of these works.

Over the decades, DAG has supported charities in India and overseas, relief efforts in the wake of natural disasters or calamities, raised funds for benefits, defence forces and those who have suffered from acts of terrorism. Its instinctive assistance to the marginalised in their hour of need has been one of the hallmarks of an institution rooted in the culture of selflessness and giving that is characteristic of the nation—and fraternity—it represents.

DAG Fundraiser: Hope for Humanity

When the Covid pandemic struck again in 2021 causing distressing misery in the lives of so many, DAG donated 51 works priced between Rs 50,000-5 lakh each from its collection to organise an online sale to provide support to charities actively engaged in providing aid to the most disadvantages. 100% proceeds from the sale were equally divided between the Sood Charity Foundation, Khalsa Aid India, and Hemkunt Foundation. All 51 works were sold and CEO and MD Ashish Anand of DAG noted that the art acquired by collectors would serve to remind them ‘of your good deed to your nation and countrymen’.
