Sunil Das was one of the most significant artists and teachers from late twentieth century Bengal and India. Known for his iconic drawings of bulls and horses, Das painted across several oeuvres, each one distinctive and to which he brought his singular vision. He also painted several female nudes across his career. Many of these nudes attempted to highlight the effect of the male gaze onto the canvas, which picks out erotic forms over a consideration of their surroundings or work.
