The Durbar of 1911 was intended to be a grand ceremony to commemorate the coronation in Britain of King George V and Queen Mary. Anticipating a very heavy public traffic into Delhi, major works were undertaken with tramways and rail transportation. To manage the traffic efficiently, there was a need for extra railway connections and temporary stations. Special uniforms were supplied to the British Railway officials during the Durbar period.
