This photograph depicts an aerial view of the Taj Mahal and its complex. Just before the entrance gate to the Taj complex, the plots of settlement are visible, such as Taj Ganj. Taj Ganj is one of the oldest settlements around the Taj, built near its Southern gate; it was once a bustling area that now lies in ruins. Some of the colonies within Taj Ganj are Resham Katra, and Katra Fulel, among others. The terrain behind the monument shows the location of the river Yamuna and possibly the then deserted land beyond it.
