For the third year running, DAG will showcase its prestigious Iconic Masterpieces of Indian Modern Art series at Art Mumbai, exploring facets of pre-modern and modern Indian art. Now in its fifth edition, the exhibition is a museum showcase of masters including Anglo-Indian artists, National Treasures, and those who have spearheaded Indian modern art. Bookended by works dated from 1798 to 2011, the exhibition includes unidentified artists whose contribution to Indian art is as significant as those who have forged formidable reputations.

A rare illustrated scroll on the Bhagwat Purana, Kalighat pats and an Early Bengal masterpiece will be shown alongside works by travelling artists Thomas Daniell, Charles D’Oyly and Marius Bauer; history paintings by Sita Ram, A. H. Muller, M. V. Dhurandhar and L. N. Taskar; National Treasure artists Amrita Sher-Gil, Nandalal Bose, Abanindranath Tagore and Nicholas Roerich; the Bengal masters Radhacharan Bagchi and Ganesh Haloi; modernists such as George Keyt, F. N. Souza, S. H. Raza, M. F. Husain, Avinash Chandra, K. K. Hebbar and Nirode Mazumdar; alongside works by Satish Gujral, S. K. Bakre, Rabin Mondal, Laxman Pai, J. Sultan Ali, Chittaprosad, Bikash Bhattacharjee and Madhvi Parekh; the abstractionists Shanti Dave, Sohan Qadri and Rajendra Dhawan; and for the first time in Iconic, stunning works by Paramjit Singh, Amitava and Altaf.
