Works speak for an artist like no words can, and Sohan Qadri’s oeuvre underscored his deep engagement with spirituality, whose essence he distilled in his art through his own abstract, modernist language. In this Untitled work, he gouges the paper in his well-known technique and applies ink and dye, leaving the furrows and perforations to soak it organically. A straight furrow at the bottom is encased by rows of perforations on both sides, denoting earthly fetters. Another furrow curls up towards higher consciousness depicted by a serrated block of colour.
