Dots of light and furrows saturated with dye are a common feature of Sohan Qadri’s works. A yogi who turned to art to give expression to his spiritual quest, Qadri’s work was a result of deep meditation and succeeded in evoking a meditative state in the viewer’s mind. A calm mauve and lilac plane soothes the viewer, the uniformity interrupted by two furrows curling up inwards toward the centre, where lies the spiritual core comprising of dots of light. The work evokes the violet chakra of meditation, and with it, concentration, focus, and the highest state of being.
