With Origin, a series that Shobha Broota began in the 1980s, she has created a primal source of energy that is manifest in all living things on earth and beyond. Each of the works creates an abstract rendition of a source of power that attracts attention, a force that draws everything towards itself—whether pulsating orb or tantra-inspired forms in which the esoteric language is rendered as a form of energy. Her use of a simultaneous hard and soft palette accentuates this further.
