Colours and forms in miniature paintings impacted Laxman Pai profoundly and it is something that he often discussed even with his students of art. This Untitled painting appears to be a homage to the Kishangarh style of miniature painting, represented by the iconic image of Bani Thani, a singer and poet in Kishangarh in the time of Raja Samant Singh who later married the king. Represented traditionally with arched eyebrows, graceful features, elongated eyes and pointed chin, Pai reimagines the elegant figure through his visual lens.
