Not many owned the thick line like K. S. Kulkarni, who imbued his art with a distinctive modernist spirit, at a time when young artists were making up leeway to create a unique Indian idiom for modern art. Trained at Sir J. J. School of Art, Bombay, Kulkarni painted life as he saw it, painting both the rural and urbanscapes with equal ease yet romanticising neither. In this Untitled work, he presents a snapshot of an idle hour somewhere, with two human beings enjoying a quiet time in the company of a dog.
