The central dot as a primordial form is a large part of Shobha Broota’s practice. Here, she reinterprets the dot as a series of rhythmically flowing lines, as though moving towards a source of energy towards the top. The lines almost parallel each other before opening outwards. The sense of abandonment in the dancing lines is tautly disciplined, creating a sense of tension in the work that gives it an urgent sense of momentum and power reinforced through the use of the colour yellow.
