The jagged yet flowing line, so characteristic of M. F. Husain, was his signature. In this work, he builds up the figure only through the line, without using any other element, showing his strong command over bold brushstrokes. The monochromatic works may have been a challenge for others—given that they do not rely on colours, background, or any other embellishment—but in Husain's skilled hands, they achieve a depth that leaves one marvelling at the artist's technique.
