M.F. Husain earned fame for several of his seminal works, and notoriety for controversies that some of his works invariably attracted. In all the brouhaha, his visual essays on episodes of Indian mythology often got overshadowed. Plumbing through texts of Indian mythology such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharat among others, Husain created works which included popular narratives as well as abstraction such as this one, titled Yudha, meaning war. Here, he focuses on a close combat with two soldiers of warring parties, in what appears to be a fight to the finish.
