Lalu Prasad Shaw took to printmaking in the Sixties when the Calcutta-based Contemporary Artist Group (of which he was a member) got an etching press of its own. This Untitled print by Shaw puts a clear emphasis on a spontaneous but subconscious creation. There is an emotional intensity, a unique pictorial sensibility, a rich and varied visual vocabulary that comes together in this Untitled print, also revealing to us the complex interplay of various elements in the work.
