A landscape is a rare work from Rabin Mondal’s oeuvre as the artist’s reputation was built on his sensitive yet pithy works critiquing the ills of the society—it was a trope that he did not take leave of ever in his career. The landscape becomes rarer because of its sunny and pleasant disposition; most of his well-known work, by its very nature, was sombre and dark even when flirting with humour. The green, however, is distinct as this very shade was put to good use by Mondal in his critical work as a symbol of all that is reprehensible in the corrupt leaders of society.
