An expressionistic studio nude study is a work of art most closely associated with student days of artists in some European art capital and this Untitled acrylic work by Jyoti Bhatt is no exception. After graduating from M. S. University, Baroda, Bhatt had travelled to Naples, and then to New York, in early 1960s, where he was exposed to art trends in currency in the West. This study bears seeds of abstract expressionism that Bhatt tried out in his early career before adopting traditional folk style and photo documentation for which is best known.
