Abstract expressionism, cubism, pop-imagery… these were all genres that Jyoti Bhatt experimented with in his early career in the 1960s, a period when he also travelled abroad to study—at Accademia de Belle Arti in Naples and the Pratt Institute in New York. This Untited work from the latter half of that decade brings together quite a few of those global influences in what appears to be a pop take on man’s reflection self as seen through mirror images, all of which throw up different versions of the one seeking self.
