Though the title of the work doesn’t say so, this is probably the artist himself, given the figure’s hairstyle and the attire—Ambalal’s most enduring image is of a pleasant, welcoming figure clad in a kurta. He is literally smelling the flowers, with the sweet sensation affecting him deep, right to the brain’s neurons. He seems to be aiming at collecting as many flowers as possible, as the right arm has detached itself from the body to reach out to the flowers beyond his immediate vicinity. Bees too buzz around soaking up the sweet smell.
