Sakti Burman, who is known for his dreamscapes, enforces the fantasy element in his work through multiple ways—the mythological characters and narrative, birds and animals in fantastical shapes, and the use of his self-devised technique of marbling, where immiscibility of oil and water is put to good use to create a surrealist effect. This ink work, Pigeon and Mirror, checks all the boxes in creating a work that throws open the imagery for multiple interpretations by viewers, where the fantasy can be stretched to the point of hallucination.
