Jai Zharotia never painted the obvious. His works delved deep into the mysteries that common place objects and incidents hide behind their simple façade. For instance, this is not just a scarecrow whose wooden arm is used as a perch by a bird—possibly an owl—the very creature it is meant to keep away from crops. The growth of a bright tendril around its wooden being suggests that stoicism in life can become a virtue if one truly learns to handle all situations in life with equanimity, with as much stillness as a scarecrow.
