Huts in Kashmir is a landscape painting in which a settlement of village homes can be seen surrounded by snow, as though viewed from somewhere above. The abstract nature of the composition builds up the settlement vertically, as though the houses are huddling closer amidst the cold—an architectural preference in the Himalayan fastnesses. The colour of the buildings—most probably the roofs—lends the painting its colour, almost otherwise obliterated by the whites of a winter landscape.
