The 1960s was the most important decade for artist G. R. Santosh, and also one that sums up his entire career—from figurative paintings to abstract compositions, his epiphany at Amarnath cave and a transition to Shavite philosophy-based neo-tantra paintings. Through all these metamorphoses, Santosh’s muse remained steadfastly Kashmir. In the Snows of Kashmir marks his abstract phase, and he paints here, the high, snow-covered fastnesses of the Himalayas.
