One of Indian modern art’s most influential and successful realist painters, A. H. Müller immediately evokes a tender response from the viewer for this painting. The watercolour captures an ordinary moment of a seemingly ordinary person who is undoubtedly a strong maternal figure, a multitasker, who manages both, her home and her work. The chosen subject, therefore, makes this work by Müller timeless. Given the artist’s colour palette, the viewer can grasp how hot and dry is the subject’s location.
