The female figure in this Untitled work sits in her boudoir, quite possibly waiting for her loved one. Archibald Herman Müller, a romantic realist and one of the first few artists to be trained in the art school of Madras, paints the subject lovingly, detailing every fold of her diaphanous saree, her jewellery, which are highlighted further by the glow of light that comes from an unknown source. The painting is a fine example of Müller’s technical skill and artistic command.
