Though Untitled, one wonders if this figurative work is a self-portrait by Biswanath Mukerji? It is almost as if the human figure is just another part of still-life elements, including a glass of wine, a skull, a trident.... Hailing from Benaras, Mukerji left home to become an artist, getting mentored by some of the stalwarts of Indian modern art, including Asit Haldar, Lalit Mohan Sen, Hiranmoy Roychaudhuri and Bireswar Sen. The artist worked in the medium of watercolour in a range of subjects.
