Printmaker Anupam Sud here turns the tables in her representation of Olympia in which the gazer becomes the gazed. The nude figure of a male sprawls across a sofa, the object of pleasure, while a scantily clad woman stands before him in a dominant position. Who is looking at whom? Does the ‘gaze’ even matter? Are they taking pleasure in each other? Sud’s works makes us reflect about tradition and acceptance to offer us alternate choices and ways of thinking in works such as this.
