As a student of College of Art, New Delhi, in the 1960s, Anupam Sud encountered two towering, though radically different, figures as teachers—the highly political and socially engaged Somnath Hore, and the formalist innovator Jagmohan Chopra. On graduating in 1967, she began work at Chopra’s studio in west Delhi, later becoming part of the collective, Group 8, that further merged into Delhi Silpi Chakra. It was during this phase that she created rock-like formations, figurative forms with prominent appendages, and experimented with printing techniques.
