Dhanraj Bhagat’s sculptures were largely guided by his own experiences, rooted within a spiritual quest, a questioning of his life and journey as an artist. This Untitled sculpture is representational of Bhagat’s mature style. It gives an impression of being ‘constructed’ in wood interspersed with metal; geometric forms are laid over one another albeit in a casual manner. Therein lies the success of the work—what seems effortless to the viewer stems from a process of discarding the superfluous and reaching the core of a form.
