There is a smoothness, a lyricism, and an ethos, of art being the true expression of what an artist feels, that one finds in Dhanraj Bhagat’s sculptures. A teacher at the Delhi College of Art, Bhagat began his career working in a narrative mode using wood, but the bulk of his career was devoted to working in aluminium, cement, plaster, metal sheet. The artist was highly experimentative in his sculptures, creating works that represented the birth and evolution of modernism in the plastic arts.
