During the Eighties, S. G. Vasudev developed his personal vision of the tree of life, following the death of his wife, Arnawaz, who was also a painter. The personal loss experienced by the artist gave rise to an artistic vision, allowing him to accept his grief through an intense creative journey. Gradually, the ‘vriksha’ or tree became the ‘Tree of Life’, an abode for the variety of life for shelter, food and as an arena for playful gambolling featuring birds, reptiles, animals, and even human beings.
