For S. G. Vasudev, Maithuna, the corresponding sign for Gemini in Hindu astrology, was the act of love between a man and a woman as well as the vast concept of love between all forms and beings. He made over three hundred drawings before he translated these paintings into colours dominated by yellows, greens and browns, with hints of human forms visible in the melee. The shapes in this work range from geometric triangles and uneven circles to snake-like creatures.
