M. Suriyamoorthy’s colour palette was extremely interesting in that his colours seemed organic, very earthy, very Indian. The soft tones, also evident in this Untitled work, which he achieved in his paintings always boasted of a rare quality, thus, giving him an edge over others. A major reason why Suriyamoorthy’s colours achieved so much finesse was because in much of his artistic career, he dabbled not only in oils and acrylics but his own colour pigments, which he created from unique indigenous sources, including riverbeds, trees, seashells, and more.
