As an artist, M. Suriyamoorthy chose not to follow the masters or, for that matter, any ‘isms’ of the art world. He created his colours from scratch and mixed these with waters obtained from holy rivers and temples. Much of the iconography and decorative motifs associated with holy places and pilgrimages in India found a resonance in his art. The powerful imagery on this Untitled canvas is a celebration of scale, precision and balance to which he brings a unique visual style.
