Along with his rich landscapes for which he was widely known, Prosanto Roy painted exquisite riverscapes of his native Bengal, on a small scale, that created charming, romantic images of barges and riverbanks, and today evoke a time gone by. Pleasure Boat shows an eponymous boat anchored for the night at a riverbank pier. Roy’s attention to details is immaculate and creates a fine balance to reveal the gentle breeze and light streaming onto the waters.
