To capture through printmaking—where any one wrong move in the technique can dilute the entire effort of the artist—the precision, grace and expression of a figure, is not an easy task. Hiranmoy Roychaudhuri, though, achieves excellence in this Untitled lithograph which features a dignified, ageing man. The artist captures in fine detail the flowing beard, the wrinkles on this wise man’s face, the folds of his garments and skull cap, and the almost meditative stance that the figure shows.
