Suhas Roy had a difficult childhood due to the early demise of his father, and grew up amidst socio-political turbulence in Bengal, even after the Independence of the country. A sensitive artist, his art reflected the trauma of the times. The Radha series, therefore, that he started creating towards the later stages of his career, seemed like a deliberate attempt to infuse beauty in his creations. This large charcoal drawing brings together all those elements of the series—sensuous, nubile young things in a dreamy state, floating amidst lotuses and enticing the viewer with their mysterious aura.
