This Untitled painting by K. K. Hebbar exemplifies how inspired the artist was by the colour palette of Western modernists that he referenced in his own work. Hebbar had the ability to pick up key aspects from varied genres of art while being true to his own self. He paints here an all-too familiar scene witnessed in India—helpless beggars seeking alms. We wonder if the figure sitting by the window holding what looks like a paintbrush is Hebbar himself?
