The palette of Hungry Soul is an ode to the Prussian blue colour that was used very often by Western masters, many of whom greatly inspired K. K. Hebbar. The Indian modernist builds up the sense of remorse and dejection showing the two figures (young adults) who wear a worried expression, one of them clutching his hands, and wondering about their meal. The ‘hungry souls’ sit helplessly while around them utensils lie strewn about—a possibility that the two people have searched through them for food.
