Bimal Dasgupta was drawn to a fantastic world of colours and forms that he maneuvered to suit his purpose. He did not rein in either his choice of colours or his imagination, resulting in works that exploded with energy as well as mystery. If the world was an endless source of fascination for him, he cared deeply about the environment too. In this painting, there is a suggestion of a rocky mass emerging from water, while birds take flight, providing a bridge between the inanimate and the living—a landscape iridescent with the fecund possibilities of imagination.
