K. Laxma Goud has shaped his career around the subjects he saw while growing up in rural Telangana. This Untitled etching was done long after he had left his hometown, studied at Baroda and settled in Hyderabad, yet harks back to his earliest inspiration. It is a surrealist remembrance of a scene from his village, where a dhoti-clad man, perhaps on an evening, has stepped out of his house in the background to have a conversation with an anthropomorphic hen with a pensive look, whose attention is caught by something in the distance, not visible in the image.
