Hailing from the Telangana region, K. Laxma Goud drew his inspiration from the lives of its indigenous residents. Born into an agrarian family, he studied in Baroda before settling down in Hyderabad. It is a scene from this city that he depicts in Banjara Hills, titled on the city’s tony neighbourhood, ironically named after the nomadic tribe who were displaced when the area was developed by a noble from the court of the Nizam of Hyderabad. Goud has made quite a few works on this affluent neighbourhood and this one depicts a group of men engaged in an engrossing conversation on the street.
