Seen here, in a photograph by Nemai Ghosh, is Satyajit Ray with his unit members, in Calcutta. Ramesh Sen, Ray, Subrata Lahiri, Sandip Ray (from left to right) stand around him as Ray instructs a scene while directing the film Ganashatru. The film didn’t do too well given that it was made after a five-year hiatus of Ray from filmmaking owing to his failing health. Though not considered among his better works, Ganashatru, according to critics, nonetheless had flashes of Ray’s brilliance to make it worthwhile.
