The creativity that Satyajit Ray infused in his work had a lot to do with his interests and influences, and his constant passion to dip into various artistic endeavours, including sketching, painting, creating music, poetry, besides, of course, writing and directing some of the finest films that encouraged scores of future generations of filmmakers. A student of painting in Santiniketan in the Forties, Ray invariably sketched for his films—be it the storyboards / screenplays, the costumes, the overall look of films—thinking forever as a visual artist.
