Acrylic and gold pigment on ivory sheet pasted on plywood
Artist, poet, cook and a sitar player, P. Khemraj brought in many influences in his work, which he once explained as: ‘My work starts with thought, which then becomes poetry.’ His well-known Asha Hans series, of which this Untitled work in acrylic and gold pigment is a part, was characterised by romance and lyricism. His inspiration came from myriad sources—Indian miniature paintings to erotic temple art to European classicism and modern abstractionism. The hallmark of this series is the profound connection between human beings and nature.
