The most striking aspect of Jagmohan Chopra’s abstract work was the great attention he paid to the use of negative picture-space, which eventually provided the artist with some interesting results. Many times, accidental occurrences led to a range of interesting pictorial and textural effects. It’s a possibility that Composition / 24, much like his other work, is informed by memory, giving an impression of his vast repertoire of visuals, comprising jagged rock formations, cave interiors, architecture, limestone fossils, based on his own extensive travels.
