Yearning for artistic liberation and in search of himself through his art, Avinash Chandra’s shift to London in the late 1950s allowed him to create a personal vision that employed the expressionistic trope and involved an instinctive pictoriality. He created images that were bulbous in neon colours with a harmony of forms that blended together with colour and technique to inform us of the rich visual lyricism and poetry in Chandra’s art, instantly calming and meditative.
