Within the Madras Group, R. B. Bhaskaran’s approach and creative ideas were at variance with others. That said, Bhaskaran refused the label of a rebel, although his works were a clear demonstration of it. This Untitled painting, from a later time in his life, demonstrates, once again, the artist’s engagement with iconography suggesting life and energy with more than just a hint of sexual connotation. His images and the imagery, according to critics, have been both instinctive and elemental, and is aptly suggested even in this Untitled work.
