This energetic drawing by Altaf, whose reverse carries another drawing, appears to be a study in capturing movement. Composed entirely of lines in motion, the two figures are in different stages of bending down, or rising up, whichever way one would want to look at them. It is the fervent sketches of one human outline over another that lend the two figures their potency. The free flowing lines also exhibit the artist’s felicity over taming the natural flow of the line. It is remarkable that each of the overlapping outlines, in both the figures, is made up of an unbroken line.
